Pacific Crest Corporation Ships First EDL II Radio Modem
SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 21, 2004 - Pacific Crest Corporation delivered the first shipment of its newest product, the Environmental Data Link (EDL) II. The EDL II, also known as the "RF Data Pipe," is compact radio modem designed and engineered specifically for outdoor data communication applications.
The device features a sealed all-weather enclosure, built-in UHF transceiver (0.5 or 2 Watts RF output), and multi-protocol modem with data rates up to 19,200 bits per second. Unique design and rugged construction allow the EDL II to mount directly on most types of antennae, which reduces installation complexity and increases reliability. Presently the EDL II is type-approved for operation in North America and Europe, and approval for China and other markets is expected later this year.
The EDL II RF Data Pipe is intended for use with weather stations, environmental sensors, offshore exploration, and any other moderate data-rate application where long range, extended life, and reliable operation are important. Pacific Crest Corporation offers a variety of antennas, power supplies, mounting brackets and cables that complement the EDL II product family.
